“How can I open or balance my chakras?”
This is a question I hear a lot, and unfortunately, there’s no easy answer!

The state of your chakras and the exercises you do to balance them depend on your knowledge and awareness of your inner energy centers. One of the main benefits of yoga, breathwork, and meditation is getting in touch with our chakras. In order to do so, we need to know which techniques and poses to use to connect with each chakra.

If you don’t know anything about chakras, that’s okay! There are tons of different resources out there that you can read to get a better understanding. All the chakras have different qualities and characteristics that are useful to recognize in order to find better balance overall. Click here or below to watch my favorite YouTube video explaining how to open your 7 charkas  – ‘for kids’!

If you already know a bit about chakras, identify the main one you’d like to focus on. Of course, all of our energy centers are connected, so if one is imbalanced, whether it’s overactive or underactive, your entire chakra system will be affected! Perhaps you already know which chakra to start with. If not, trust your intuition. Ask yourself which part of your body is the weakest or most troubling, which yoga pose is trickiest for you, or what’s bothering you most on an emotional level. If you still can’t decide on a starting point, visit a healer, like a reiki master, who can help you figure it out in person.

Once you’ve decided where to start, you’ve already started! Your awareness has increased, and this is a necessary step for balancing your chakras. You can continue to build awareness and direct your energy through meditation, yoga, pranayama, healing and energy-balancing techniques from Reiki to acupuncture, and lots of introspection.
There are no short-cuts. Balancing the chakras is a never-ending process. As you cleanse and balance one of your chakras, the rest will follow. Enjoy the process!
